“Memories encapsulated in a scarf. The flower colours sink into the scarf, like the memories they are part of.”
Internship
Ilfa Siebenhaar
Internship Duration: 80 days
Textiles – Sustainable dyes & methods
Studio Ilfa Siebenhaar is a biodesign fashion studio, which specializes in sustainable dyeing methods derived from natural processes and materials. During my internship there, my responsibilities included desk research regarding applying bacteria dyes on textiles for Project “BInc” and graphic design for the collection “Blu”. My desk research method followed the double diamond: I collected data, analysed them and combined them to produce ideas which were later discussed with Ilfa. Together we evaluated their feasibility and selected the most promising ones to be further researched.
Additionally, I was introduced to dye baths, bundle dyeing and fashion design. Project “Sunset” is a showcase of my practical learnings at the studio. Annatto seed powder and the flowers from a joyous occasion are used to colour the silk scarf.
