Interior Design – Tourism
In 2020, the family inhabiting the residence for almost 10 years, decided to depart and live in another home. This was the perfect opportunity to remodel the residence and offer it for hosting. Aegean Sea view is now a short-term rental apartment on the Greek island of Paros.
Original state of the residence
Originally, the residence was not suitable for hosting, therefore several adjustments were necessary. The color palette and the decoration needed to be adapted to the local heritage of Cyclades in a modern sense. The renovation reached a deep level, since it was not only limited to decoration and color changes, but also to construction methods and techniques. For example, all floor tile is replaced with mosaic. However, the greatest challenge was to create a second bathroom, in order to host larger groups of visitors (4-6) more comfortably.

Bathroom Renovation
The bathroom’s new found elegance is attributed to a number of changes. As mentioned previously, the tile floors are replaced by mosaic. The bathtub is removed and a shower is now in its place. A shower opens up the space, meets the needs of visitors, who rather spend time at the beach instead of the tub, and finally reduces the water usage, as water is scarce on the islands during summer. Additionally, the wooden furniture is replaced by built in ones that celebrate simplicity and Cycladic architecture. Walls, built in furniture and shower, are all covered by pressed cement mortar a new bathroom trend that has grown on locals the past 5 years.
Living Room Transformation
While built in furniture are the epitome of Cycladic tradition and have grown in popularity the past years, they do not fit in all spaces. To create a more modular living room environment, a light wooden couch is preferred. Also, the wall left to the couch provided the solution to the second bathroom problem.

New Bathroom Creation
The wall behind the room signifies the beginning of the mountain rock. Nonetheless, mountain rock cannot stand in the way of experienced constructors, who managed to create a whole new room in that rock, enabling the creation of a spacious second bathroom. This bathroom follows the same principles with the first one.
